James Huseby

James Roger Huseby was born September 28, 1942, the son of John and Beatrice (Anderson) Huseby in Willmar. He was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg. He attended Sunburg country school before graduating from Kerkhoven-Sunburg High School in 1960. Jim furthered his education at Minneapolis Business School, graduating in 1962. He served in the Army from March 11, 1964 - March 10, 1966. On October 29, 1966, Jim married Judy Kay Carlson at the home of Leslie Carlson in rural Kerkhoven. To this union, four daughters were born. They lived in Sunburg, Kerkhoven, Pennock and eventually made their home on Games Lake. At a young age, Jim started helping his parents on the family farm. After marriage, Jim worked at Haug Implement, was part owner at Ford Implement and started Jim Huseby Construction. He would later work for Vreemen Construction, was a sub-contractor for Duininck Construction and was currently employed by Jerry Kluver. He was an active member at Salem Covenant, serving as a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Trustee. He was a member of the New London American Legion. Over the years, Jim was also a member of the Kerkhoven Rescue Squad, Pennock Fire Department and Pennock City Council. Jim was a loving husband, dad and grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the lake. He also enjoyed stock car races, fishing, snowmobiling, boating and camping.
