Maybelle Broberg
05/28/1925 - 1/25/2018
Maybelle Irene Broberg was born on May 28, 1925, in Louriston Township, Minnesota, the daughter of A. Erick and Ellen (Edberg) Ortenblad. She grew up in rural Murdock where she attended District 10 country school and graduated from Murdock High School in The Class of 1942. She was united in marriage to Edmond Broberg on January 4, 1946, at the Buffalo Lake Covenant Church. The couple lived and farmed in rural Kerkhoven, on the Willie Broberg Homestead, where they raised their six children. They later moved into Kerkhoven in 1983. In addition to being a homemaker, Maybelle also worked as a secretary at the Cargill Elevator, was a teller at the State Bank of Kerkhoven, and managed the Kerkhoven division of the Prairie Five Meals on Wheels for 13 years. Maybelle and Edmond entered Assisted Living in Willmar in September of 2015. Edmond passed away on April 3, 2016. She recently entered Bethesda Grand in December of 2017.
Maybelle was baptized and later confirmed her faith on June 19, 1939, at Buffalo Lake Covenant Church. She was currently a member of Salem Covenant in rural Pennock, where she was active with the Salem Women, was Superintendent of the Sunday School, a Sunday School Teacher and served on the Christian Board of Education. She was also a 4-H club Leader, and active with Pillsbury Homemakers, and the Kerkhoven Senior Citizens.
Maybelle enjoyed life on the farm, raising chickens, gardening, weaving rugs, and always provided hospitality to neighbors and friends with meals and conversation. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, always playing games, singing and visiting with them. Maybelle was a wonderful role model to her whole family when it came to living a faithful Christian life. She will be greatly missed.
